Boyertown, PA

So... I left my cord to upload photos at Woodsong Hollow Farms. I am at my first place with an address since leaving PA in July. So should have many posts in the next few days, catching everyone up on where I have been.

Jeff and Nitya's house at Woodsong Hollow farm.

Personal Veg. garden. Nitya takes care of the farm (pigs, chickens (layers and broilers), goats, sheep) and Jeff works for a farmland preservation company.

The Belgian couple (they wwoofed for a few days) and I started to get the barn ready to paint.

This pig was posing for me.

The big brown one with the spots on the belly would roll over if you rubbed his tummy.

The broilers before they are old enough for the hoop houses.

Hoop house. Nitya gets old billboard advertisements to cover the shelter.. for free!

Amish are everywhere here! Once I stopped for directions at a fruit and veg. stand and a little 6 year old Amish girl was running the stand. She gave me perfect directions to reroute me. I thought is was hilarious, she was so cute. She even told me every hill I would go up or down.

Yes, they still ride in horse carriages.

I was so surprised at how beautiful this part of PA was. Lots of hold restored houses. Very strong farming community too.

Mennonite have made exceptions for some more modern advances if it is to benefit their businesses. This is a tractor with metal tires. The metal tires are to ensure that no one will use it on the road. This is so people stay on the community.

The story of this guy is hilarious. In short,  he likes to dig holes with giant machines in his backyard for fun. Apparently his land is zoned as a wetland.. so it is not allowed. When people showed up to talk to him about it he met them on the lawn with his gun. Then proceeded to call all the people that he thought "ratted" him out and told them he was going to kill them and their families. Etc Etc. He has showed up to a few county meetings with a gun, and now he hangs all these flags to show everyone that he is patriotic and kind.

I forget what his statue says.
